Acid Rain

ACID RAIN

               

                Acid rain is a various kind of rain that acidic or have low pH. It can have harmful for plants, aquatic animals, buildings. The chemical in acid rain can cause the paint to peel, corrosion of steel building, and the other. Acid rain caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids. Acid rain can also occur in the form of snow, fog, and tiny bits of dry materials that settle to Earth.

                Acid rain can be happen when  rotting vegetations and erupting volcanoes release some chemicals that can caused acid rain. Not only vegetations and Volcanoes activity that can caused acid rain, human activities also can caused acid rain. The biggest evil is the burning of fossil fuels by coal-burning power plants, factories, and cars.

                When humans burn fossil fuels, sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (Nox) are released into the atmosphere. These chemical gases react with water, oxygen, and other subtances to form mild solutions of sulfuric and nitric acid. Winds can spread these acidic solutions across the atmosphere and over hundreds of miles. When acid rain reahes Earth, it flows across the surface in stream of river, enters water systems, and sinks into the soil.

Acid rain aslo occur in two ways. First is wet deposition. This occurs when any form of precipitation (rain, snow, and so on.) removes acids from the atmosphere and delivers it to the Earth's surface. Second is dry deposition. This occurs when particles and gases stick to the ground, plants or other surfaces.
